COSD : Co-operating for Standard Development
Commissioned by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards to perform works, such as the preparation of standards and the operation of relevant schemes, in order to establish and revise the industrial standards in Korea.
The institute thus specializes in standards and has shown expertise in the field. The institute is also a representative of the relevant sector.

Establishment and revision of KS in the textile and medical sectors
Survey of demands, and the establishment of development and review plans
Operate technical committees and the standardization of working groups in individual sectors
Prepare drafts of standards and handbooks, as well as request for the establishment and revision of standards
Support the private sector in the development of standards by sharing the information and experience in standardization
Other items recognized as necessary by the administrator of KATS for the purpose of developing the standards
Assume the assistant role in the textile sector of ISO (ISO TC 38/SC 24) and designate an assistant institute (TC 38) the for Korea Standards (KS) in Korea
